May Allah bless you, Your Eminence Shaykh. This female questioner asks: If someone asks me about something I do not wish to discuss, is it permissible for me to say, “Allah knows best”?
Answer:
Yes. There is no harm if a questioner asks you about something you do not like to tell them, for you to say, “Allah knows best.” However, on this occasion, I advise some people who embarrass others by asking about private matters that people do not like others to look into.
I say: Let these people remember the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family: “From the excellence of a person’s Islam is his leaving that which does not concern him.”
Therefore, it is obligatory not to embarrass people by asking about their private conditions, and the person being questioned has the right to say, “Allah and His Messenger know best.”
He also has the right to say to this questioner: “Fear Allah, my brother; do not ask about what does not concern you, for from the excellence of a person’s Islam is his leaving that which does not concern him.”
