Question:
Your Eminence, may Allah grant you success, this questioner asks: What is the ruling regarding what has become common among some people—celebrating the so-called “Valentine’s Day,” which people celebrate these days?
Answer:
It is not permissible. There are no celebrations in Islam except for two: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. These are the two legitimate Eids for Muslims: Eid al-Adha comes after performing the pillar of Hajj, and Eid al-Fitr comes after performing fasting, which is a pillar of Islam. Every Eid comes after the fulfillment of a pillar of Islam. There are no celebrations in Islam other than these two, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Yes.
