Question:

What is your eminence’s opinion regarding someone who says: “I disbelieve in Salafiyyah”?

Answer:

This is ignorance and an assault upon the truth. If the person means that the use of this specific word is inappropriate, or that a person should not say “I am a Salafi,” then the matter in that case is easier.

However, if he means by that statement that he disbelieves in the methodology (Manhaj) of the Salaf, their way, and the truth they were upon, then this is disbelief (Kufr) in the Book [of Allah] (Quran) and the Sunnah [of His Messenger], and in what the Salaf of this Ummah (nation) were upon.
