Who are the Ikhwanism (the Muslim Brotherhood group)

They are the followers of the misguided innovator Hasan al-Banna, and there are critical objections to their methodology, the most important of which are the following:

  1. Laxity in the ‘Tawhid Al-‘Ibadah’ (single-out Allah alone for all worship): This is the most important thing in Islam, and a servant’s Islam is not valid without it.
  2. Their silence and tacit approval of people regarding major polytheism: Such as supplicating to other than Allah, circumambulating graves, making vows to their occupants, sacrificing animals in their names, and the like.
  3. The founder of this methodology was a Sufi: He had ties to Sufism, having taken the oath of allegiance (bay’ah) from Abd al-Wahhab al-Hasafi according to his Hasafi-Shadhili path.
  4. The presence of bid’ah (innovations) among them and practicing worship through them: In fact, the founder of the methodology asserts that the Prophet (peace be upon him) attends their ‘remembrance’ (dhikr) gatherings and forgives them for their past sins, as stated in his poetry: May God bestow His blessings upon the Light that appeared. To the worlds, surpassing both the sun and the moon. This beloved one is present with the loved ones, And he has forgiven everyone for whatever has passed and transpired.
  5. Their call for the Caliphate: This is an innovation, for the Messengers and their followers were charged with nothing except calling to Monotheism. Allah the Almighty said: “And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], ‘Worship Allah and avoid Taghut [false deities].’“ [An-Nahl: 36].
  6. The absence or weakness of Al-Wala’ wa-l-Bara’ (Loyalty and Disavowal) among them: This is evident from their call to rapprochement between Sunnis and Shiites, and the founder’s statement: “We cooperate in what we agree upon, and excuse one another in what we differ upon”—End quote.
  7. Their hatred and resentment toward the people of Monotheism and adherents of the Salafi path: This is clear from their rhetoric regarding the Saudi state—which was established upon Monotheism and teaches Monotheism in its schools, institutes, and universities—and from their assassination of Jamil al-Rahman al-Afghani because he called to Monotheism and ran schools where Monotheism was taught.
  8. Tracking the stumbles of rulers and searching for their flaws: Whether true or false, and publishing them among the rising youth to make them despise the rulers and fill their hearts with resentment against them.
  9. Detestable partisanship: To which they belong, forming allegiances and enmities solely based on this party.
  10. Taking the oath of allegiance (bay’ah) to work for the Brotherhood’s methodology: Based on the ten conditions mentioned by the founder.

There are other observations that can be addressed later.

Fifty Criticisms of the Muslim Brotherhood Demonstrating the Corruption of Their Methodology

  1. Their laxity in Monotheism (Tawhid).
  2. Weakness of loyalty and disavowal (Al-Wala’ wa-l-Bara’).
  3. Their falling into ‘innovations’ (Bid’ah).
  4. The innovation of partisanship (factionalism).
  5. Speaking against rulers/authorities.
  6. The secrecy upon which the Brotherhood’s methodology is built.
  7. Their fanaticism toward the leaders of the Brotherhood.
  8. Their fanaticism toward the books of the Brotherhood.
  9. Their fanaticism toward the lectures of the Brotherhood.
  10. Cooperation among members of the Brotherhood to serve the Brotherhood’s methodology.
  11. Severe warnings against those who criticize the Brotherhood.
  12. Warning against books that caution against the Muslim Brotherhood group.
  13. Their laxity in seeking [religious] knowledge.
  14. Their distribution of banned audio tapes.
  15. Their legitimization of leadership while residing in settled areas (cities/towns).
  16. Their distribution of books containing misguidance.
  17. Their concealment through the methodology of Taqiyyah (dissimulation) and swearing falsely.
  18. Threatening anyone who leaves their methodology for the Salafi methodology.
  19. Assigning imaginary hierarchical ranks among themselves.
  20. Their adoption of the methodology mandating “balancing” (mentioning virtues alongside flaws) when refuting others.
  21. Their organization of demonstrations and marches.
  22. Cultivating youth toward [staging] coups.
  23. The call to establish the Caliphate.
  24. Associating with beardless youths.
  25. Coopting officials and frequently sitting with them.
  26. Listening to innovative ‘religious chants’ (Anashid).
  27. Permissibility of acting/theatrical performance.
  28. Frequent late-night outings to remote locations.
  29. Paying a specific monetary contribution from every member of the Brotherhood in support of the group.
  30. Their eagerness to gather youth under their invalid foundation/principle.
  31. Their belief that their group is the best group on the scene.
  32. Their claim that the mere difference between Salafis and the Brotherhood is merely a difference of variance/diversity.
  33. Their assertion that the Da’wah (call to Islam) cannot succeed except by joining their group.
  34. Preoccupation with reading magazines and newspapers.
  35. Orchestrating assassinations.
  36. Their eagerness to recruit youth while excluding very young children.
  37. Exploiting certain official activities for the benefit of the group.
  38. Polishing the image of their leaders and exaggerating in praising them.
  39. Their sympathy with misguided parties/factions.
  40. Their eagerness for leadership positions to serve the group.
  41. Gradually easing youth into the ranks of the Brotherhood organization.
  42. Taking the oath of allegiance (Bay’ah) to the Brotherhood methodology.
  43. Their hostility toward monotheistic Salafis.
  44. Focusing on virtues at the expense of ‘creeds’ (Aqa’id).
  45. Exploiting the seasons of Hajj and Umrah to brainwash youth with Brotherhood ideology.
  46. Frequent recreational trips to attract youth.
  47. Their preference for intelligent individuals over others.
  48. Mandating the boycott of disbelievers’ products.
  49. Selecting fatwas that align with their desires.
  50. Extreme laxity regarding the issue of photography/image-making.

Sheikh Hammad al-Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Indeed, the Muslim Brotherhood are supporters of Khomeini and the Rafidah [a pejorative term used for Shia Muslims].” [Al-Majmu’, 2/699]

Sheikh Ahmad Shakir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The movement of Hasan al-Banna and his Muslim Brotherhood—who turned the Islamic call into a destructive, criminal movement funded by the communists and the Jews, as we know with absolute certainty.” [Shu’un al-Ta’lim wa-l-Qada’, p. 48]

The scholar Rabi’ ibn Hadi al-Madkhali (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“The Brotherhood wear the garb of Islam, yet they are harder on the Salafis than the Jews and the Christians!” [Dated: 28/9/1437 AH]

“ISIS was nurtured in Iran, and they are a faction of the Muslim Brotherhood factions; and they are the harshest of parties against the Salafis, declaring them disbelievers and killing them!” [Dated: 28/9/1437 AH]
