Proudly Following the Salaf

Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz—may Allah Almighty have mercy on him—said in a speech delivered before the leaders of the Armed Forces:

“We are envied and fought against for the blessing that Allah has given us, and every possessor of a blessing is envied.”

Prince Sultan explained that his country is currently facing a war regarding its religion, being accused regarding what it considers an honor for itself, which is “Al-Salafiyyah.”

Defending it, he said: “The righteous predecessors (al-Salaf al-Salih) are the role model; if we are Salafis, we are following the righteous predecessors.”

قال الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز رحمه الله تعالى في كلمة ألقاها أمام قادة القوات المسلحة: «نحن محسودون ومحاربون على نعمة الله التي أعطاها لنا وكل ذي نعمة محسود»، وأوضح الأمير سلطان أن بلاده تواجه الآن حرباً في دينها وتتهم فيما تعده شرفاً لها وهي «السلفية» وقال مدافعاً «السلف الصالح هم القدوة، إذا كنا سلفيين فنحن نتبع السلف الصالح».
