It contains a detailed verification that the ‘Jews’ separated themselves through their disbelief from the Children of Israel during the era of the Children of Israel, just as Ibrahim al-Khalil (Abraham, the Intimate Friend), peace be upon him, separated from his father Azar. Disbelief severs the bond of alliance between Muslims and disbelievers, as seen in the story of Noah with his son.

Therefore, none of the virtues that belonged to the Children of Israel apply to the Jews. Consequently, applying the name ‘Children of Israel’ to the Jews accords them virtues and conceals their vices, thereby erasing the distinction between the Children of Israel and the ‘Jews’—those who incurred divine wrath and upon whom humiliation and misery were stamped.

Similarly, it is impermissible to replace the name ‘al-Nasara’ (the Nazarenes) with ‘al-Masihiyyun’ (Christians, attributed to following the Messiah, peace be upon him). This latter designation is a modern invention with no basis in history or in the usages of scholars, because the Nasara altered and corrupted the religion of the Messiah, just as the Jews did with the religion of Moses, peace be upon him. Allah named them ‘al-Nasara,’ not ‘al-Masihiyyun’.
