Question:

The listener also asks in his second question: Do the dead see one another after death?

Answer:

By Allah, I do not know about this; I do not know anything about this.

Question:

How authentic is what is said: that whoever dies in Ramadan or on Friday is not punished with the punishment of the grave?

The Shaykh:

The punishment of the grave is established for everyone who deserves it, whether they die on Friday, in Ramadan, or at any other time. Because of this, Muslims say in their prayer—in every single one of their prayers during the final Tashahhud: “I seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the trial of Al-Masih ad-Dajjal (the False Messiah).”

The only exception is whoever dies as a Mujahid (warrior) in the cause of Allah; such a person will not be approached by the two angels who question him about his religion, his Lord, and his Prophet. This is because the flashing of swords over his head was the greatest trial and test for him, and the ultimate proof that he is a believer—otherwise, he would not have exposed his neck to the enemies of Allah.
