The crescent moon is not a symbol of Islam

Question:

May Allah reward you with good and treat you well. Why do the Muslims symbolize the crescent moon on the minarets of their Masjids?

Answer:

This is a custom they have taken and observed it. There is no basis for it from the standpoint of the religion. It is nothing more than a custom.
