Question:
If a man dislikes Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah (The Oneness of Divinity in Worship) and says, “This is merely something innovated by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab al-Najdi,” how should we respond to him?
Answer:
We respond to him by asking: “Did Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab al-Najdi come before the Quran or after the Quran?”
He will definitely reply: “After the Quran.”
So we say to him: The entire Quran is filled with the establishment of Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah. We then recite some verses to him regarding this:
“Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge—[that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” [Al ‘Imran: 18]
“O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.” [Al-Baqarah: 21]
“And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, ‘There is no deity except Me, so worship Me’.” [Al-Anbiya: 25]
“And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], ‘Worship Allah and avoid Taghut (false deities)’.” [An-Nahl: 36]
The verses on this matter are numerous, and the Quran is filled with them. Therefore, it is the Quran itself that called to Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah, made it obligatory, and bound people to it.
