The ideology of the Khawarij in present times

Question:

Are there people in this day and age who carry the ideology of the Khawarij?

Answer:

Glory be to Allah! Is what is happening now not the very action of the Khawarij? Which is declaring Muslims to be disbelievers, and—even worse than that—killing Muslims and attacking them. This is ideology of the Khawarij. It consists of three core elements:

  1. Declaring Muslims to be disbelievers.
  2. Rebelling against the authority of the ruler.
  3. ​Deeming the shedding of Muslim blood permissible.

​These are from the ideology of the Khawarij. Even if a person holds these beliefs in their heart without speaking them or acting upon them, they have become a Khariji in their creed and their views, even if they have not openly expressed them.
