Israel is Jacob (Ya’qub). People nowadays say ‘the State of Israel’ and curse or revile it. The correct practice is that it should be called ‘the State of the Jews,’ not ‘the State of Israel.’ Israel, peace and blessings be upon him, should not be reviled, even if a person does not intend the noble Prophet himself but rather the state. Thus, it should not be referred to by this name; rather, it should be said: ‘the State of the Jews, may Allah make it abominable.’
As for saying ‘Israel’ and cursing Israel, this is impermissible, due to its correspondence with the name of Israel, the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
