His Name and Early Life
He is Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Aman bin Ali al-Jami, may Allah have mercy on him, known by his agnomen Abu Ahmad. He was born in the year 1349 AH in the Harar region of Abyssinia (Ethiopia). He grew up as a seeker of knowledge, reading the Noble Quran and learning the fundamentals of Shafi’i jurisprudence and the Arabic language in his homeland. In his early stages, he studied under a number of scholars from his region, including Sheikh Muhammad Amin al-Harari, Sheikh Musa, and Sheikh Abadir. He then resolved to set out on a journey to seek knowledge in the Two Holy Sanctuaries.

Journey to the Hijaz and Formal Education
He departed from Abyssinia, passing through Somalia, Aden, and Al-Hudaydah until he reached Makkah, performing Hajj in the year 1369 AH. He regularly attended the study circles in the Sacred Mosque, and later transitioned to formal education in Riyadh and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
He studied at the Scientific Institute in Riyadh and graduated from the College of Sharia in the year 1380 AH. He then pursued higher studies, earning an equivalent Master’s degree in Sharia from the University of the Punjab in 1974 CE, and a Ph.D. from Dar Al-Ulum at Cairo University.

Education and Dawah
Teaching Career
He began teaching at the Scientific Institute in Samtah, and later moved to the Secondary Institute and the College of Sharia at the Islamic University of Al-Madinah. He also held lessons in the Prophet’s Mosque, alongside delivering lectures and undertaking Dawah journeys both within and outside the Kingdom. The Sheikh left behind a vast body of scholarly material in Creed (Aqidah), the Sunnah, and Dawah. This library has preserved whatever could be gathered and documented of his books, lectures, lessons, explanations, and visual recordings.

His Death and Legacy
The Sheikh passed away in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah on Wednesday, Sha’ban 26, 1416 AH, following an illness. Funeral prayers were performed for him, and he was buried in Al-Baqi Cemetery. His knowledge continues to be disseminated through his books, lessons, and recordings, and this library strives to present them in a documented and accessible manner for researchers and seekers of knowledge.
