It is the duty of every Muslim to study his religion
Question:
If a person wants to learn but finds no one to teach him, is he sinful if he does not learn?
Answer:
It is the duty of every Muslim to study his religion to know what is obligatory for him and what is unlawful for him. The Muslim has to learn such fundamental knowledge even if this requires traveling to another land if there is no one to teach him. Allah says in Surah Muhammad Ayah 19: “So know (O Muhammad) that, La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and ask forgiveness for your sin…“, and the Prophet ﷺ said: “When Allah wishes good for a person, He makes him understand the religion.” (Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
