His Birth:

Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Aziz Al Al-Shaykh was born in Riyadh in 1360 A.H. He suffered from weak eyesight since birth and lost his sight in 1381 A.H.

His Knowledge:

The Shaykh started seeking knowledge by studying the Ever-Glorious Qur’an at Ahmad ibn Sinan Mosque and memorized the whole Ever-Glorious Qur’an by the time he was twelve years old. He then sought knowledge from some of the scholars in learning circles. In 1375 A.H., he joined the Imam Ad-Da’wah Institute where he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 1383/1384 A.H. He also attended religious circles at mosques.

His Work:

He began his active religious life after graduating from the faculty of Shari’ah in 1384 A.H. Thereafter, he worked as a teacher at the Imam Ad-Da’wah Educational Institute until 1392 A.H. He then took up a teaching position at the Faculty of Shari’ah in Riyadh, where he remained until 1412 A.H.

He then became a member of the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta’. In 1416 A.H., he was appointed as deputy to the Grand Mufty of the Kingdom. Prior to that, he was appointed as a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in 1407 A.H.

His Efforts:

He was appointed as the Imam for Friday Prayers at the Mosque of Shaykh ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abdul-Latif in 1390 A.H., and was subsequently transferred to the position of Imam at the Mosque of Imam Turky ibn ‘Abdullah in 1412 A.H. He became the Imam and preacher at Namirah Mosque on the Day of ‘Arafah in 1402 A.H.

Whilst at the Faculty of Shari’ah, he supervised some university theses, and took part in discussions pertaining to them.

Since 1414 A.H., he has been involved in responding to questions on the radio program Nur ‘Ala Al-Darb. He also used to hold lessons at the Mosque of Imam Turky ibn ‘Abdullah. He participates in seminars and lectures in conjunction with his work in the field of Da’wah in Riyadh and Ta’if.
